The gloves I wanted were out of stock. The company contacted me to offer a full refund along with an alternative online store from where to purchase. I was on a deadline, but decided to wait for the gloves to come back in stock as it looked as though that would happen within my timeframe. When that couldn't happen, the company made it right! The customer service was amazing, the alternative gloves they offered came within my deadline, and they are so warm and of such high quality. Highly recommend!
Thank you, Jackie! We're glad we could help you find the right gloves in time. Enjoy the warmth, and we appreciate your recommendation!
Photographing sunrise and vaporizing boiling water at -38°F while dogsledding in Ely, Minnesota, on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area is no easy task. My THC gloves have been essential for capturing those moments, even in extreme cold. Whether I’m venturing out in the middle of lakes or waiting for the perfect sunrise shot in the subzero temps of Minnesota’s North Woods, my gloves keep my hands warm and safe. They are simply the best—and the only gloves that make it possible for me to do my photography. I’d rate them a perfect 10/10!
Every year, I visit the Bayou in East Texas and Louisiana to photograph the Cypress trees in their autumn glory and the innumerable birds that make this floating forest their home. The best pictures are made from the kayak in the soft light of dawn as the mist rises from the extremely cold water. I use my Polartec Pro Liner gloves when I’m actively rowing and switch to the Heat Smart Pro 3 when sitting and waiting for the right conditions. Without my gloves, I simply wouldn’t be able to get my shots. It’s not just one day but reliably day after day, season after season, my Heat Company gloves make my pictures possible by keeping my fingers and hands warm so I can focus on capturing the perfect shot. The gloves allow me to operate my camera with ease, maintaining dexterity without sacrificing comfort, and the touch-sensitive finger pad makes it simple to capture behind-the-scenes videos with my phone.
My THC gloves are always with me on cold-weather adventures. Recently, I took them on a five-day cave exploration trip in Vietnam, where we descended 300 feet into pitch darkness. My liner gloves were essential for navigating rough terrain, bouldering, rappelling, climbing, and squeezing through narrow rocky passages. Every winter, I also travel with my clients to Norway to photograph the Lofoten Islands and the aurora borealis. It’s an incredibly exciting experience, and I simply couldn’t endure the cold without my parka, beanie, and Heat Smart Pro 3 gloves.
As a photographer, dexterity is crucial when handling my camera. The unique design of the Heat Smart Pro gloves lets me peel back the top layer, keep my hands warm inside the liner, and continue operating my camera. Whether I’m setting up a shot or waiting for the right light, my fingers stay warm inside the shell and liner combo. The gloves feel comfortable, not stiff, and provide long-lasting warmth for extended periods outdoors. I’d rate them a solid 10/10!
I bought my THC gloves for a winter photo tour in Yellowstone, where we had an epic encounter with the Wapiti wolf pack. We spent eight hours watching and photographing the pack as they harassed and wore down a wounded bison along the Firehole River. Ultimately, the bison walked into the river, laid down, and died. I also used my gloves for a sandhill crane photoshoot in Kearney, Nebraska, when a blizzard came through. That’s me sitting on an icy road shooting during the blizzard! The photo of the cranes was from sunrise the next morning when the river was frozen—that time, I was in a blind. I’ve faced extreme weather conditions with my gloves, including blizzards, high winds, blowing ice, and below-zero freezing temperatures. They've proven reliable in all those situations. One day, I hope to visit Antarctica, and I know these gloves would be perfect for that adventure. The liners have pockets for heat pads, which is a game changer in freezing weather. Overall, I’d rate them an 8 and would definitely recommend them to friends.
The flexibility of these gloves is great easy to use with my camera. The location for the heat pad on back of the hand is not very efficient. Would be better if you had a pocket on the inner wrist.
Thank you for your honest feedback! We're happy to hear you find the gloves flexible and easy to use.
They’re well made. They keep my fingers warm.Haven’t tried them with the outer mitt yet.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Let us know how they work with the outer mitt when you try them!
I purchased these gloves in combination with the Durable Liner Pro and Merino Liner Pro and use them for winter photography. They are warm and the leather shell makes it easy to make the fingers and thumb accessible for operating the camera. I have not used them in extreme cold yet, but will test them in Yellowstone soon. I suspect they will do just fine. I am also impressed with the magnet strength and its ability to hold back the hand and thumb flaps when they are opened. I have other gloves where the flap annoyingly tries to snap back-- this is not the case with these gloves. I also have to say that the Customer Service is great. I spoke with Sherry several times during the purchase and afterwards to do a size exchange. They are great to work with and a quality company!
Thank you for sharing your experience! We're glad to hear the gloves are working well for your photography and that the magnets and design meet your needs. Wishing you an amazing trip to Yellowstone—let us know how the gloves perform in the extreme cold!
I purchased these gloves for winter use with my mirrorless camera. These gloves are warm and wind resistant and work well in combination with the leather shell. I can operate most of the camera relatively easily with the gloves on. There is one button that I have difficulty accessing, but putting a felt bumper on it helped. I think this issue might go away once the gloves have been worn a lot and are fully broken in. The gloves work well with my touchscreen and phone. I would definitely buy these again!
Hi Bruce, thank you for sharing your experience! We’re glad the gloves are meeting your needs and appreciate your thoughtful workaround. It’s great to hear they’re working well for both your camera and touchscreen.
Know these are advertised as liners but U bought to use as winter gloves. Live in moderate climate with some below 20 days but not many. These work well for me when walking outside, driving, and work better than others I have worn when handling objects. Hands stay dry when dealing with snow on my car. The feel when wearing is vert comfortable. Not too tight on fingers like some gloves but fit well. Just enough stretch in material so not too tight but good fit. Worth the $$ spent.
Recently purchased :
Full Leather Shell, Merino Pro Liner, Yeti Ortho foot bed.
All exceeded expectations- extremely warm and comfortable.
Spent day (14 hours) sitting on deer stand at below zero temperature
without getting cold. FANTASTIC ! Sherry provide me with terrific customer service.
Thank you for your feedback! We're thrilled to hear that The Heat Company products provided the warmth and comfort you needed. We truly appreciate your support!
These are the most amazing gloves I have ever had for winter photography .
I am ready for the Minnesota winter and Yellowstone adventure.
Thank you for the great review! We're thrilled to hear the gloves are perfect for your winter photography adventures! ❄️
Prior to ordering I send online email/message and left a voicemail asking about sizing since I was on the border of two sizes. I did not receive a response to either request. After waiting more than a week, I ordered the smaller size. Hopefully, this will work out ok. It seems to fit snug with my liner gloves, but hiopefully not blood restrictive. We’ll see if it’s too tight and gets cold when the temperature drops to give them a good test.,
Thank you for your feedback, and we apologize for the delay in responding. This occurred during a difficult time in North Carolina after Hurricane Helene, which caused some delays. We appreciate your understanding and hope the gloves work well as the temperature drops. Please reach out if you have any concerns!
The Shell is excellent. Not only does it keep the hands dry, it fit over cast on the hand keeping the hand warm without any other glove under the shell.
Great to hear that the Heat Shell exceeded your expectations and provided excellent protection for your hands. Stay warm!
I have purchased 4 different pairs of convertible mittens, alas none are as well made or useable as the Heat 2 softshell. These also stack with mittens as well as rain cover. Have all 3 to support any kind of cold / wet weather outdoor activity.
Delighted to hear the Heat 2 softshell mittens stand out! Your satisfaction is our priority.
Happy outdoor adventures!
These are expensive liners, they are well constructed, but have some design flaws. My main issue is the metal carabiner they use to attach the gloves, first this is dangerous (It easily caught on some of my other gear); second The carabiner is ice cold when you put them on your wrist if it touches your skin, If you take the carabiner off, you run the risk of losing it. A simple clamp To attach both gloves would work much better. For temp above 32 these work fine, any lower temp Especially with any wind, you’re going to need more protection. At this price point is close could’ve been led with a warmer material.
We appreciate your insights on the carabiner design and temperature considerations. We'll take your suggestions into account for future improvements.
They are well made and extremely warm. I love the fact that they have the elastic bands and can just hanging off when not needed.
Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the awesome review! We're stoked to hear our gloves are keeping you warm.
Appreciate your feedback!
I'm very impressed with the wind pro liner. I do outdoor winter photography in Alaska and this liner glove is heavy enough to keep my fingers warm when handling the cold middle of the camera and tripod. Having the ability to put a heat pack on the back of my hand makes it that much better. Highly recommended.
Hi Jeff!
We're thrilled to hear it keeps your fingers warm during outdoor winter photography in Alaska. We appreciate your recommendation!
The heat tube is just what I need under my leather shell to keep my fingers both warm and accessible on moderately cold days. Even though my hands are a little larger than the sizing table indicated for the size I bought, they are comfortable and fit well.
I am very happy with these liners. They kept my fingers quite warm inside the leather shell (a rare experience for me!), and the fingertips worked perfectly well with my phone. Haven't tried them solo, but I bet they'll work well by themselves when the weather is less cold.
…and when you wear the sofshell by itself, it’s pretty comfortable, although the material could be a bit warmer
I think it's a great product, however, I should point out that this pair is a replacement of the pair I bought several years ago. I needed the replacement when the palm seam of one of the mittens split. I attempted to connect with the Heat Company about this, hoping for a repair or replacement, but despite several tries received no response. Despite that, I'm a great fan of the mittens and decided to give them another try. My hope is that this pair will do better.
I bought these for working in the woods in cold weather, when my fingers usually get painfully cold. I wore my shell with the merino polartec liners and my fingers stayed toasty the whole time.
